Timber Framing and Woodworking Classes 2018

Timber Frame Class July 13, Friday 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. July 14, Saturday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. July 15, Sunday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. $275 Jump right into the construction of a two story 600 sq. foot timber frame studio. Learn the fundamentals of design and construction on the job while you cut mortises and tenons. Layout techniques will be introduced as well as tool use and cutting methods. This three day intensive experience is physically demanding and requires heavy lifting and strenuous hammer work. Most tools are provided but participants are welcome to bring their own saws, mallets, and chisels (free sharpening tutorials)   Basic Carpentry September 17- October 15 Mondays  (five weeks) 6 – 8:30 p.m. $250. Instructor:  MacKinnon Learn about basic tool use, safety equipment, types of wood and different cuts of wood, as well as some fundamentals of house framing.  Both hand and power tools will be taught and used to complete a simple group project. Students are encouraged to bring drawings, photographs, and questions about their own maintenance and repair issues or building dreams.
