Woodworking and Basic Construction Classes

At Heartmoor, tuitions are all inclusive- general shop materials, use of tools, storage of projects, and beautiful wood. Salvage and reclamation of resources is a central focus of our design and build philosophy. Classes are designed to support the individual student in their pursuit of skills combined with the theory of practice. We understand that a missed class due to work or family conflicts is natural. We will do the best we can to find convenient make-up times for each individual student through priority placement in Wednesday Open Shop or special weekend Shop Time (dates TBD). At Heartmoor, students are encouraged and supported to reach and exceed their personal expectations and explore new methods of work. As one student recently commented: the classes “…made the humbling experience of learning a new skill as an adult totally delightful.” -H.D. Upcoming Woodshop Classes Open Shop Wednesdays Current and former students are invited to sign up for Open Shop days to initiate larger, elaborate projects or create one-session crafts at their discretion. Montessori Consulting

After college, Elizabeth talked with many Montessori teachers before choosing to train with the Association Montessori Internationale. Studying first for her primary diploma with Hildegard Solzbacher in Washington, DC (1997) and then for the Elementary Montessori course with Camillo Grazzini and Baiba Krumins in Bergamo, Italy (2003). Heartmoor Farm Education Centre grew out of experience teaching and living with adolescents at Hershey Montessori Farm School. Her work with adolescents has included five different environments, most recently developing an online international Montessori high school community centering peace and care for the earth as expressions of relationships honoring dignity in all beings. These themes are at the heart of her work with all families, children, and young adults. In addition to co-founding, co-directing and developing programs at Heartmoor, Elizabeth has experience in Waldorf education, homeschooling, mindfulness, yoga, restorative justice, and Western herbalism. An advocate for deep listening and conscious communication, Elizabeth is a creative problem solver who centers individual well-being within the context of vibrant community.
